Back in June, FIT2order was recognized as a 2026 WBE Star and DMV Impact Award recipient through WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV.
I'm still so grateful.
But what stays with me isn't really the award.
It's what the award made me stop long enough to see.
FIT2order has changed a lot over the past 18 years.
The reason it exists hasn't.
FIT2order didn't start in a gym. It started in schools, companies and public parks, wherever people already were.
That was the idea from the beginning: health shouldn't be something you have to drive somewhere to do or somehow squeeze into an already full day. It should fit into the life you're already living.
I built FIT2order alongside my business partner, Pattie Sassano, and for years we grew it together, one onsite class, one company and one park boot camp at a time.
When COVID brought onsite wellness to an abrupt stop, everything changed. We had very real conversations about whether FIT2order could continue at all. Eventually, Pattie and I made the difficult decision to end our formal partnership.
What didn't end was my gratitude for her, our friendship or what we built together.
The foundation of FIT2order exists because of both of us.
And then, in the middle of that same hard season, I lost my brother, Brad.
While we navigated his stage IV cancer diagnosis, I kept coming back to something incredibly basic: the breath.
I wanted to give him a simple way to slow down, breathe more intentionally and find even a small sense of control in a moment when so much felt beyond his control.
That need eventually became the vidaBALL®, a handheld breath-training tool designed to make intentional breathing simple and tangible.
It wasn't a market gap I identified.
It was a need I lived.
One of the things I wish most is that Brad had lived to see the vidaBALL finished.
Looking back now, I can see the through-line much more clearly.
FIT2order was never only about helping people exercise more, eat cleaner or stress less.
It was about making health more possible in the middle of real life.
Eighteen years later, I see that same challenge inside organizations every day.
People are busy.
They're sitting too much, carrying too much stress, moving from meeting to meeting, answering one more email and telling themselves they'll take better care of themselves when things calm down.
Except things rarely calm down.
And the answer can't always be to give people one more thing to do.
Sometimes the most useful solution is much simpler.
Stand up.
Change position.
Take the walk.
Let the air out.
Take one intentional breath before the next conversation.
Build small moments of recovery into the day instead of waiting until you're completely depleted to recover.
That's where the work has continued to take me.
FIT2order has grown from onsite classes into workplace well-being, stress management training, team experiences, speaking and tools like the vidaBALL.
On the surface, those may look like separate wellness offerings.
To me, they're all answering the same question:
How do we help people feel and function better in the life and work they're already doing?
My involvement with WBEC helped me become clearer about that answer.
Competing in their pitch competition challenged me to take years of experience and explain, in just a few minutes, why this work matters.
That experience opened new doors and new relationships, including opportunities with organizations such as EY and Capital One.
But something else happened too.
I started recognizing that the ideas I had been teaching inside companies for years were part of a much bigger conversation.
We need to talk about what happens when capable people keep compensating.
When the warning lights are on, but everyone keeps working around them.
When stress becomes normal.
When exhaustion gets mistaken for commitment.
When health gets treated as something separate from performance, leadership and the way work actually gets done.
It isn't separate.
Health is the thru-line.
And that's a conversation you'll see me having on more stages.
The 2026 WBE Star recognition gave me a reason to look backward for a moment.
What I found surprised me.
The work I'm stepping into now isn't really a reinvention of FIT2order.
It's an expansion of the idea that was there from the very beginning.
Meet people where they are.
Make health practical.
Remove some of the friction.
Give people tools they can actually use.
And help them build the capacity to keep doing the work and living the life that matters to them.
There's a reason I call my newsletter The Exhale.
An exhale creates a little space.
A moment to release something, notice something or decide what comes next.
This award gave me one of those moments.
And after 18 years, I feel clearer than ever about what comes next.
If you're planning a leadership meeting, employee event, conference, offsite or company-wide well-being initiativeand you're looking for someone who can help your people think differently about health, stress and the way they work, while giving them practical tools they can actually use, I'd love to talk.
Move more. Stress less. Right where you work.
